UNIPORT located in Rivers State was founded in 1975, while UNIBEN which is located in the ancient city of Benin was founded in 1970. on the other hand Ahmadu Bello University was founded in 1962 while UNIZIK and UNN in 1980 and 1955 respectfully

all this universities are regarded as first and second generation University and are highly competitive in all way rounds. you hardly get or see a faculty or department that are not competitive
